The Sayan Union was a country in Saya from 1893 to 1989. It was one of the largest countries in the world by land area, and the most populous country in the world for most of its history. Succeeding the Sayan Empire, it was organized as a supranational union of states, though its government was in actuality highly centralized. Organized as a one-party state centered around the Sayan Communist Labor Party (SCLP), it was the world’s foremost communist state and a superpower in international relations. Its capital and largest city was Avigneux.
